Temperature Blanket

My 2026 Knitted Temperature Blanket Creating a temperature blanket is an exciting and meaningful way to capture the essence of an entire year through knitting. My 2026 knitted temperature blanket is a year-long project where I’ll record the daily temperatures in my local area and translate them into a beautiful, colourful blanket. Each day, I’ll knit two rows in the colour that represents the temperature of that day, resulting in a vibrant and unique keepsake by the end of the year. This blanket will be a reflection of nature’s rhythm, one stitch at a time. It’s not only a creative endeavour but also a mindful way to document the passing days and seasons. By the time 2026 comes to a close, I’ll have a stunning, handmade blanket filled with memories, effort, and the beauty of seasonal change.   For my blanket, I have cast on 250sts and will be knitting a stocking stitch blanket with a garter stitch edge to prevent the edges from curling.  My simple colour chart was made from recycling a Christmas card, and both my yarn and colour choices were determined by my stash! So I've not spent a penny setting up my first project of 2026 - which feels great!   My temperature colours: Brown 0-3 degrees Green 4-6 degrees Navy 7-9 degrees Red 10-12 degrees Grey 13-15 degrees Peach 16-18 degrees Dusky pink 19-21 degrees Pink 22-24 degrees Bright pink 26-27 degrees yellow 28-30 degrees For any extreme temperatures outside my chart, I will choose an extreme coloured yarn - neon perhaps! Will you be making a 2026 temperature blanket? Its not too late to stash dive and create your colour chart! I will keep you updated on the progress of my blanket throughout the year.  Happy Knitting Amanda x
